There are multiple work permits categories such as:
- Temporary Foreign Worker Program (requires LMIA- Labour Market Impact Assessment)
- Post graduate Work Permit (PGWP)
- Spousal open work permit
- International Mobility Program (IMP)
- TFWP- Under this type of work permit , employer requires to complete the LMIA process and obtaining it under ESDC. This will determine if employer hiring TFW will not have any negative impact on Canadian workforce. After receiving a positive LMIA, the employer should send a copy to their identified foreign worker. The positive LMIA must be included in the worker’s application for a Temporary Work Permit.
- PGWP- Canada offers the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) as part of its efforts to attract international students and retain them as immigrants. The PGWP is valid for up to three years (the actual length of each person’s PGWP depends on the length of their Canadian educational program). The PGWP is an open work permit, which allows international graduates to work for any Canadian employer without needing a job offer. A major benefit of the PGWP is it enables international graduates to gain professional work experience in Canada and eventually settle down in Canada to strengthen their economy.
- Spousal Open Work Permit- Would you like to enter Canada to work on a temporary basis? Spouses and common-law partners of Canadians or Permanent Residents can get an open work permit while their inland sponsorship application for permanent residence is being processed. - IMP- LMIA-exempt work permits falls under IMP category. . The purpose of the IMP is to promote Canada’s broad economic, social, and cultural interests. Since the IMP’s policy goals are broader, the Canadian government does not use the LMIA process on foreign nationals who fall under any of the IMP’s streams. Do you need work permit assistance?
